Noted environmentalist G.D. Agarwal, who is on a fast-unto-death to press for the cleaning up of Ganga river, was on Monday referred from BHU to AIIMS in New Dehi after his health was deterioated. Agarwal, also known as Swami Gyanaswaroop Anand, was recently transferred to the Sir Sundal Lal Hospital of Beneras Hindu University from the district hospital after suffering a heart attack.
Sources close to Agarwal said that he was taken to New Delhi on an air ambulance from the Babatpur airport in Varanasi.
Meanwhile, some of the close aides of Agarwal alleged that he has been shifted unnecessarily and that in the recent letter sent to them, clearly said that now his health was in a sound condition.
Recently, Magsaysay award-winner 'Waterman', Rajendra Singh and two others had also quit from the National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA) on March 10th expressing solidarity with Agarwal, who has been on fast for the past 11 days.
